The proposed terminal, to be located on the outskirts of Witbank, is currently in the initial stages of environmental impact assessment and feasibility studies. According to Mr. Thabo Mokoena, the Chief Executive Officer of Mpumalanga Coal Logistics (Pty) Ltd, the terminal will feature state-of-the-art loading facilities, expanded rail links, and improved storage capabilities. "This project represents a critical investment in Mpumalanga's economic future," stated Mr. Mokoena. "It will not only streamline the export of our valuable coal resources but also create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities for the people of Witbank and surrounding areas, from construction to operational roles." He further emphasised the company's commitment to sustainable development and adherence to all environmental regulations. Local officials have expressed optimism regarding the potential benefits. Councillor Nomusa Dlamini, Ward 12 Representative, commented, "This new terminal could be a game-changer for Witbank.
